A chance to clear his name and get back what was lost

As Depp was certainly dissatisfied with the verdict and still believed that his ex-wife was lying and presenting false evidence, he managed to drag her back to court. But this time in America. He is suing her for defamation of character, specifically over an article published in the Washington Post. The hearing in Virginia has been going on for a week now, and it looks like there's still plenty to discover and the story is far from over.

New witnesses, newly revealed secrets ... The trial should take another six weeks, and according to Sky News, actors James Franco, Paul Bettany and even Elon Musk, should testify. But why does Depp want to reopen old painful and not yet healed, quite to the contrary, still festering wounds not only in front of the jury, but in front of the whole world?

It is simple. If he wins , Amber Heard will have to pay him $ 50 million. More importantly, however, he has a chance to clear his name and recover what he has lost. And a lot has been lost. Although fans expressed their support, Hollywood turned his back on him. Cancel culture reigns again.

The Dior brand, which dared not to end their cooperation with Depp, faced criticism. Due to the accusations from his ex-wife, actor lost his role as Jack Sparrow in the extremely successful film series Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the film series Fantastic Beasts, written by J. K. Rowling.

As a child, he was abused by his mother

If Depp won the court, all could change. However, he would have to prove that Amber Heard had wrongly accused him, for example, of causing her black eyes, breaking her nose and tearing her lip. Let's take a look at who has testified before the jury at the Fairfax District Court at the latest hearing and what has been said so far.

According to the BBC, Johnny Depp told the jury, how his circle changed their attitudes towards him after Heard published an article accusing him of physical violence.

According to him, her false claims had huge consequences and affected not only his career, but also his children and how they were treated at school. According to Depp, the actress gave "the best performance of her life" in her role as the victim. He repeated several times, that he had never hit a woman.

The actor told the court, how Nicolas Cage helped him start his acting career after the band broke up, or about his most important film roles. He also went deep into the past and talked about his difficult childhood in Kentucky, and the abused he experienced from his mother. She was also aggressive towards their father. Depp's sister Christi Dembrowski confirmed this.

"When Johnny and I were older, we decided that when we left, when we had our own home, we would not allow anything like this to happen again. We said that we would behave differently than our mother behaved," she said in court, indicating that her brother would certainly not physically harm his then-wife, that he would not behave like his their mother did.

Finger cut to the bone and human faeces in bed

Dembrowski also said, from personal experience, that when there was an argument between Depp and Heard, the actor preferred to go to another room to avoid conflict. She admitted that his ex-wife has a stronger personality and her brother is  much more sensitive, "softer". She has repeatedly witnessed insults from Amber Heard. For example, when she Depp called an old fat guy.

Depp further revealed that the actress not only constantly insulted him, provoked quarrels and conflicts, but also physically attacked him. She allegedly threw a TV remote control in his face or threw a glass bottle at him, which cut him so deep that his bone stuck out and he had to go to the hospital. He went on to talk about finding human excrements in their bed after an argument with Heard.

A sound recording of the conversation of the former couple was heard, in which the actress admits that she hit her husband. Depp also admitted that his relationship with Amber Heard reminded him of his relationship with his mother. According to EW, the actress also abused him mentally. She threatened to commit suicide if he left her.

Bruises, scratches and manic episodes

Depp's bodyguard, Sean Bett, also testified in court in Virginia. According to him, he never saw any bruises on Amber Heard's face during her relationship with Depp, while he saw signs of violence on the actor's face several times. For example, a black eye or scratches on his nose and cheeks. His testimony was substantiated by photographs.

Another witness was Depp's good friend Isaac Baruch, who, with tears in his eyes, called Amber Heard's claims lies, and added, that she had to take responsibility for everything she caused. He said he remembered what Depp and his family had to go through as a child, and it wasn't fair that the actor had to go through something similar again, and they put him in the position of aggressor. He called it madness.

Former Amber Heard assistant Kate James testified through a video call, stating, that the actress often treated her with aggression. According to the Guardian, Heard she shouted at her assistant at the time and sent her abusive text messages day and night. She is said she often had manic episodes that resembled the behaviour of people taking amphetamines. She even said Heard spit in her face, after James asked her to raise her salary.

James also said that the actress discussed the use of psychedelic mushrooms, ecstasy or cocaine with her, and sometimes appeared to be under the influence of illegal drugs. The former assistant added, that Amber Heard confided in her, that she was tired of meeting Johnny Depp's friends because they were boring. She called them old men and said that their constant guitar playing was not interesting to her.

The desire for success and fame

According to Mirror, during a hearing on Monday, April 18, the texts that Johnny Depp sent to his private doctor David Kipper were read in court. Kipper helped celebrities with addictions. The actor turned to him in 2014, when he was addicted to opioids.

In March 2015, Depp sent him text messages about Amber Heard, complaining about how poorly he was ding. "I can't live like this. (...) I am finished. I can't do this anymore. All I hear from this malicious, evil and vindictive b**ch are insults" Depp wrote to his doctor. The actress was said to be extremely self-conceited.

"She is so desperate for success and fame. That's probably why she's with me, my friend," the actor revealed. "I'm so sad," he added. Dr. Kipper said, that during Depp's treatment in May 2014, he was diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, insomnia and chronic substance abuse disorders.

He was also diagnosed with "substance use disorder", a mental health disorder that affects a person's brain and behaviour, leading to their inability to control the use of substances such as legal or illegal drugs, alcohol or medication. Amber Heard's lawyers continue to deny Depp's allegations, calling them unreliable, precisely because he often drank and used drugs during their marriage, to the point, that he lost consciousness and did not remember what he actually did.

120 withnesses including Franco aj Musk

Around 120 witnesses are expected to testify in the upcoming weeks, according to BBC. Actors Paul Bettany and James Franco should also appear in court. According to Unilad, Franco will have to reveal under oath whether he had an affair with actress Amber Heard when she was married to Depp, and whether he saw the alleged bruises on her face, which would prove that Depp abused her.

Franco was summoned after footage from May 2016 appeared, according to which he was in an elevator with Amber Heard the day after Depp allegedly attacked her. Although the 35-year-old actress's lawyers claimed that Franco was only living in the same building at the time and that the couple was just taking the elevator together, Depp's lawyers said it was a lie and the couple had a intimate relationship.

The Independent writes, that the actress also dated Elon Musk between 2016 and 2018. Communication between the couple shows that Musk offered the actress protection from Depp, which was supposed to be alert 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He also wrote that he liked her and cared about her.

While Franco and Musk were summoned by Depp's lawyers, actor Paul Bettany was summoned by lawyers Amber Heard. According to British newspapers, the reason is his communication with Depp in 2013, in which they wrote that they were going to drown and burn Amber Heard.
