Try to think about the number of posts on Instagram that you give a heart to each day, or how many ads you count on your way to work or school. You don't even know, do you? Marketing and advertising, especially in the online environment, have become a regular part of our day. So it's no surprise that they are among the most sought after job fields. Young people in particular are trying to find employment as marketing managers, social network specialists or copywriters.
What do you need to think about before you start?
According to experts from the field, young people are mixed up when it comes to some common terms. It can stress you out, especially if you're new to the field. We have prepared a short manual and a list of abbreviations to make learning a little easier. Do you know what the vocabulary of a seasoned marketer looks like? Read the short preview:
- Lead – A person who has expressed interest in services (product). This person has become your potential customer. Your task is to satisfy their needs and convince them to become your client.
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization) – These are techniques that will help you increase organic website traffic. In other words, you are trying to get to the top of the Google search engine.
- CTA (Call to action) – If someone told you not to click on that big red button on the wall, you'd probably feel compelled to push it. The principle of CTA is basically the same. You want to entice the customer to take some action, for example to subscribe to the newsletter or make a purchase.
- Affiliate marketing – In this form of marketing, sellers use a third party, an intermediary. The latter receives a reward for each customer who performs the required action on the seller's website. For example: As part of a collaboration on Instagram, an influencer shows off her outfit and adds a link to the pants she is wearing. If you click on that link and buy the pants, the influencer will receive a reward for your purchase.
- Remarketing – A strategy, whose task is to reach out again to people who visited your website or saw an ad, but did not complete the desired action. For example: You put things in the basket in an e-shop, suddenly you change your mind and close the page. The store will try to contact you again to complete your purchase - for example, they might email you a discount code for the items in your basket.
