Apple has admitted that some iPads, iPhones and Macs may have a flaw in security features that hackers could use to take complete control of the electronics, reports The Guardian. They even said in Wednesday's message that they were aware of the fact that someone had probably already taken advantage of it. The devices of those who make a lot of appearances in public can be at risk. Experts advise that updating the device could solve the problem.

Apple issued two statements on Wednesday regarding the discovery of security flaws. These specifically apply to iPhone 6S and later, several iPad models including the fifth generation and later, all iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 models, and Mac computers running macOS Monterey. Some iPod models could also be vulnerable.

On Thursday, Apple released another emergency patch for its Safari browser citing a similar security flaw. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, a US government agency, has urged users to instal emergency updates "as soon as possible," according to

Insider.

The company's technicians consider the possibility of gaining full administrative access to the device to be a specific threat, which can lead to the theft of the user's identity. According to the CEO of SocialProof Security Rachel Tobac, the biggest problems could be people who are "in the public eye", i.e. activists or journalists, who could become victims of sophisticated espionage attacks.

Apple does not provide details

Although the company admitted that some devices could have been attacked by the newly discovered method, it did not specify the specific number of affected devices.

According to security researcher Will Strafach, Apple has previously admitted to similar security flaws, which were used by hackers in about a dozen cases.
