Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John has succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 73. She died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, according to a family statement. She first battled breast cancer in 1992. However, the disease returned in 2013 and then four years later.
"Olivia was a symbol of triumph and hope for over 30 years, sharing her journey with breast cancer," the actress' husband, John Easterling, wrote on the social network. He said Olivia Newton-John's legacy will continue through the foundation, which is dedicated to cancer research.
Olivia Newton-John has starred in a number of films in her career, but her most notable role was as the young high school girl Sandy in the hit movie Grease. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1979 for her role in the famous musical. As a singer, she won four Grammy Awards.
