Director Andrew Dominic (Killing Them Softly) spoke to reporters from Vulture magazine about his unreleased film Blonde, which he made in the spring of 2021. It will be a biography of the actress Marilyn Monroe, played by Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049, James Bond: No Time to Die).
Blonde is the first Netflix movie to have an NC-17 age restriction, which means, that only people aged 18 or older can see it. Restrictions are decided by the Motion Picture Association (MPA). Horror movies or films with naked actors, for example, are usually restricted by R but they are also accessible to people under the age of 17, if accompanied by parents.
The NC-17 restriction surprised the director himself, who said that according to him, his film would offend a lot of people. The director did not hold back and, in his own words, made a really "juicy" film in which he tried to authentically portray life, career and sexism in the life of Marilyn Monroe.
Film should be released in September 2022.
