The New York Times got hold of the information Netflix sent to its employees. It is said that Netflix plans to introduce a new, cheaper subscription by the end of the year. However, its subscribers will have to put up with ads.
So far, there is no information on how long the ads will be or how often they will interrupt your show or movie. Netflix is doing this in an effort to gain new subscribers as the outpour of subscribers continues. This loss of subscribers happened for several reasons. Netflix is continually becoming more and more expensive, cancelling favourite shows, or not producing its own films and series in a sufficiently high quality.
In addition to implementing the new subscription plan, Netflix wants to figure out a way to prevent password sharing by the end of the year, which means, that you won't be able to share your account with as many people at once. We'll learn more about how Netflix payment and usage will work with these new settings later on.
