After this year's Oscars, the media writes more about Will Smith and Chris Rock, than any of films. According to Variety on the day after the Academy Awards, the name of the best actor was searched on Google up to 25 times more often, than the best film of the year CODA.

According to data from Google Trends, searches of both actors increased immediately after the incident in an unprecedented way. According to Google Trends, which measures the popularity of searches on a scale of 0 to 100, Will Smith peaked at 54 and Chris Rock at 35, with CODA only rating 4, accounting for 25 times fewer people than the Oscar-winning actor.

Immediately after the incident, Chris Rock's popularity increased in an interesting way. The Tickpick agency, which sells tickets for his comedy appearances, confirmed on Twitter that during the Oscar night, they sold more tickets for his tour than throughout the previous month.

Will Smith apologised to Chris Rock yesterday through an Instagram post, in which he wrote:

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness"

After a shocking attack on the evening's presenter, the Academy has announced, that it will submit the incident for a formal investigation, on the basis of which it will propose measures in line with legal regulations.
