A 76-Million Years Old Gorgosaurus Skeleton Will Be Auctioned For The First Time. Experts Expect It To Sell For 8 Million.

The skeleton of a huge dinosaur is for sale.The Gorgosaur, who was a distant relative of Tyranosaurus Rex, was added to the offer of the renowned auction company Sotheby's. The auction will take place live in New York on the 28th of July. According to CBS News, the expected price is 5 to 8 million dollars.

Unique home accessory?

The fossil is 6 meters wide and 3 meters long and is approximately 76 million years old, according to experts. It is a start of the prepared auction, in which all objects will be connected to natural history. Even the sellers say it is a very unique piece. "I had the privilege to sell many special artefacts and unique objects during my career but only a few of them had the capacity to inspire and capture imagination like this unbelievable Gorgosaur skeleton," said Cassandra Hatton, the director of the science and popculture department at Sotheby's.

We know that Gorgosaur was a carnivore at the top of the food chain. He lived in the territory of today's West of the United States and in Canada and he was a predecessor of Tyranosaurus Rex. He lived approximately 10 million years before the famous dinosaur. 

This specific skeleton was found in 2019 in the state of Montana. All other Gorgosaurus known to experts have been placed in museums so this is a unique opportunity to buy something so old and valuable.
