Justin Bieber shared a very delicate matter with his fans on Instagram. He revealed that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay-Hunt syndrome, as a result of which, half of his face was paralyzed. The virus has damaged the nerves in his ear so much that he can't blink or smile.
"As you can see, this eye is not blinking at all. I can't smile on this side of my face. So I'm completely paralyzed on this side. It's pretty serious, as you can see. I wish it wasn't like that, but my body, of course, tells me I have to slow down. I hope you can understand that," he said in a three-minute video on the social media platform.
A condition called Ramsay-Hunt syndrome is caused by a shingles virus that attacks the facial nerve. In addition to acute pain, it may be accompanied by paralysis of the facial muscles and hearing loss in the affected ear. The inability to blink causes eye pain and blurred vision. In most cases, the symptoms are only temporary, but sometimes the consequences can be permanent, especially if treatment is neglected.
The Canadian popstar says that he cannot perform due to the disease and is therefore canceling his concerts. As part of Bieber's Justice World Tour, which began in February, they have had to postpone three stops across the United States and Canada. The singer is currently resting and doing special facial exercises, but he cannot say when he will recover from the current state.
