Instagram and Facebook are deleting posts with pills for artificial termination of pregnancy for women who should not have access to them following the verdict of the US Supreme court.
The verdict of the Roe vs. Wade case gave women the constitutional right to abortion up to the 23rd week of pregnancy since the year 1973. The Supreme court has recently canceled the verdict. The right to abortion will plausibly be limited by half of the states, states The New York Times.
In 8 states, even victims of rape or incest will not have an exception to the ban of abortions. In Louisiana, the day after the Supreme court decision, the last clinic offering abortions was closed down. In Oklahoma, medical professionals offering abortions would face jail time.
Social platforms under the Meta company have therefore decided to delete advertisements with abortion pills for women in the USA who should now not have access to them.
