The value of bitcoin fell under the psychologically significant line of 20 000 dollars for the first time since December 2020. Bitcoin, as usual, took the value of all other cryptocurrencies down with it.
Elon Musk, who joined virtually, was asked about this fall on the Qatar economic forum. The Tesla CEO diplomatically answered that allegedly, he never told people to invest in cryptocurrencies, informs Mashable. „In regard to Tesla, SpaceX or myself specifically, we bought some bitcoin, but it is just a small percentage of our cash assets“ said Musk.
Although it seems that he has never specifically said or written this sentence, he has advertised cryptocurrencies on multiple occasions and has therefore urged people to buy them and thus invest in them. Musk has for example announced in the past that his company Tesla will start accepting bitcoin as payment for cars.
Mashable reminds us that these types of transactions were later paused due to the negative environmental impact which was plausibly only revealed to Musk later. Despite that, he then repeated that he still believes in cryptocurrencies.
He has alo announced in the past that SpaceX will launch a satellite into space named after a cryptocurrency inspired by a meme picture - dogecoin. This mission was supposed to be financed with dogecoin, since Musk wanted to rewrite history and his goal was for dogecoin to be the first cryptocurrency in spain.
