The Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess confirmed that Audi and Porsche will start at the Formula 1 championship in 2026, reports Sky Sports. The Volkswagen concern was motivated to take this step by an increase in popularity of formula in the USA and Asian countries.

Since 2026, new technological rules will be put in place, thanks to which newcomers will be able to mix things up. Herbert Diess informed us that Porsche and Audi started developing fuel for formula.

According to the new rules, the Monoposto will use sustainable biofuel ands half of the power will be delivered electrically. Audi will join Aston Martin and Sauber, belonging under Alfa Romeo. Porsche should supply motors to team Red Bull.
