American billionaire Elon Musk wrote on Twitter on Tuesday that he is buying the English football club Manchester United. "Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome," Musk wrote in a post on the social network.

Musk, who is currently the richest person in the world, is known for his unconventional behavior and often controversial statements on Twitter. It was not immediately clear whether he really plans to buy the English football club.

It took more than four hours for Musk to follow up his post with a response that he was not actually buying the football club.

"No, this is a long-running Twitter joke. I'm not buying any sports club," explained Musk, destroying the hopes of many fans of the English club who believed that the billionaire would get rid of the current owners from the Glazer family. “However, if it had to be any team, it would be Manchester United. It was my favorite club in my childhood," Musk recalled.

Manchester United is a 20-time winner of the English Premier League and has won the Champions League three times (1968, 1999 and 2008). The owners of this club are members of the American Glazer family. However, the owners of the club did not respond to Musk's posts and probably will not.

Nevertheless, Musk had a great time on Twitter, as the post about the purchase of Manchester United began with a joke about the current political situation in the United States of America. When he stated that he is not buying the English football club, he also wrote that he is not actually going to buy Coca-Cola.

"And I don't even intend to buy Coca-Cola to add cocaine to it again despite the extreme popularity of this move," Musk concluded the entire debate on Twitter.
