Bill Gates will transfer 20 billion of his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. With this, he wants to help solve the global challenges the world is facing due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The CNN portal reported about it.

The foundation is one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world. Compared to the period before the pandemic, he wants to increase spending from 6 billion to 9 billion every year until 2026. He will focus mainly on improving global health, gender equality, education and other world problems.

Gates co-chairs the foundation with his ex-wife Melinda. The couple divorced last May. The fortune of the founder of Microsoft is estimated at 113 billion dollars. According to the Bloomberg rankings, he is currently the fourth richest person on the planet.

"I will move down and eventually fall off the charts entirely," Gates wrote in a blog post on Wednesday. “I have an obligation to give back to society in ways that will have the greatest impact on improving lives. I hope that other people of great wealth and privilege will also reach that point.”

He also mentioned the second billionaire, Warren Buffett. The founder of Berkshire Hathaway has donated 35.7 billion euros to the foundation since 2006, most recently 3.1 billion in June. According to Gates, his contributions make up half of the foundation's resources.
