The platform introduced temporary restrictions two years ago. They have now announced the permanently ban on parties in their short-term rentals.
The Airbnb platform said it is permanently banning parties and events around the world. Party houses, which people rented for one night in order to organize a party, were also banned.
The company, which provides short-term rentals, introduced several restrictions as early as 2019, after five people died in a shooting at one of their rentals during a party. In 2020, it introduced a global ban on parties in connection with the worsening pandemic situation in the world.
Airbnb said in an official statement that the measures in place had proved effective and that the ban on parties was now being codified as its corporate policy. Following the introduction of the global ban in August 2020, the company recorded a year-on-year decrease in reports related to the organization of parties in its rents by 44%.
The company further stressed that guests who attempt to violate its policies will be penalized by suspending the account until it is completely removed from the platform. In 2021 alone, the company punished more than 6,600 users.
