11-Year-Old Boy Fled Ukraine All By Himself. He Travelled With Nothing But a Plastic Bag And a Phone Number Written on His Hand

 Slovak Republic Police Department published on Facebook, this heartbreaking story of a little boy who travelled from the city in the southeast of Ukraine to the Slovak border all by himself. "Boy from Zaporizhia, only 11 years old, crossed the border from Ukraine with one plastic bag, passport and phone number written on his hand. He came all alone, because his parents had to stay in Ukraine," they wrote.

The boy was immediately helped by volunteers, who took care of him, took him to a warm place and provided him with food and drink, packing him extras for the remainder of his trip. "He won them all with his smile, fearlessness and determination, worthy of a real hero."

The boy was picked up at the border by his relatives from the West. The number written on his hand was a useful navigation for the rescue services. "Thanks to the number on his hand and a piece of paper in his passport, he managed to contact his loved ones, who later came and picked him up, so the whole story had a happy ending," the Slovak Police Department added.
